The Experience

Studio Introduction & Coastal Observation (Morning)

We begin in the studio with a relaxed introduction to the day before walking together down to Parrog to work directly in the landscape.

Through gentle, guided exercises you will explore:
• muted seasonal colour and shifting light
• texture in weathered coastal landscapes
• slower rhythms of tide and movement
• emotional and reflective responses to place

You will gather visual material in a sketchbook through observation rather than finished drawing.

Reflection & Lunch Break

A quiet pause to rest, reflect, and identify the visual ideas that will shape your painting.
Please bring a packed lunch.

Studio Painting Session (Afternoon)

Back in the studio, your observations become the foundation for an abstract painting.

You will be guided through:
• soft, layered mark-making
• atmospheric and tonal colour palettes
• composition through restraint and balance
• creating depth through texture and tone

Each participant leaves with a finished artwork.
